Delores "Dolly" Y. Olson-Illies, age 70, of Willmar formerly of Dawson and Marshall, died unexpectedly Sunday evening, September 18, at her home.
A memorial service will be held at 11 A.M., Thursday, September 22nd, at Bethel Lutheran Church in Willmar. Friends may call from 5-7 P.M. Wednesday at Peterson Brothers Funeral Home and at the church one hour prior to the service.
Delores Yvonne Olson-Illies was born on December 26, 1940, in Stillwater, Minnesota, the daughter of Cora B. (Larson) and Rudolph W. Olson. She grew up and received her early education in Stillwater and then moved with her family to Dawson, Minnesota. There she continued her education and graduated from Dawson High School in 1958. She attended nurses training and worked at the Dawson Hospital. On February 27, 1960, she was married to Everett Langland and they made their home in Dawson. They had 2 children, Kari and Craig. In 1971, they moved to Marshall where Dolly went to work at the Ben Franklin store . Dolly then became the secretary for Lee Visker at his State Farm Insurance office in Marshall . When Lee retired, she became an agent for State Farm Insurance. On April 25, 1998, she was married to Joseph Illies and they made their home in Marshall. She retired from State Farm Insurance in 2005 after 27 years and she moved to Willmar to be near her family. Dolly was a member of Bethel Lutheran Church and was active with the quilters. She enjoyed her "Cashwise Coffee Club", "Thursday evening Whitney Music" night, and concerts in the park. She enjoyed traveling and anything that included spending time with her grandkids. She loved her family and friends dearly including her 3 furry feline kids, Kissy, Kasey and Korky. She will be dearly and deeply missed.
She is survived by one daughter; Kari Gislason of Willmar and one son; Craig (and Greta) Langland of Willmar. Also surviving are 3 grandchildren; Olivia Gislason, Maddie and Mason Langland, and one brother; Charles "Chuck" (and Joan) Olson of Anoka.
Dolly was preceded in death by her parents, 2nd husband (Joseph Illies), infant granddaughter (Emily Gislason) and one sister and brother-in-law; Patricia and Donald Nelson.
