Dolores W. Martinson, age 87, of Willmar, died unexpectedly Thursday afternoon, Dec. 30, at her home.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 AM on Tuesday, Jan. 4, at the Church of St. Mary. Interment will be in the church cemetery. Visitation will be from 5-7 PM with a parish prayers service at 5 PM on Monday, Jan. 3, at Peterson Brothers Funeral Home and will continue for one hour prior to the service at the church on Tuesday.
Dolores Winnefred Martinson was born on March 8, 1923, in Crosby, North Dakota, the daughter of Albert and Ardella (Thompson) Boutin. She grew up in the Brooten and Willmar communities, was baptized and confirmed in the Catholic faith and graduated from Willmar High School in 1941. During the war, she worked as a "Rosie The Riveter", riveting tail assemblies on bomber planes in factories in Washington state. Following the war, she returned to Willmar. On September 3, 1949, Dolores was united in marriage to James A. "Joe" Martinson and they made their home in the Willmar community. She was self-employed as a Realtor and Broker in the Willmar area for many years.
Dolores was a faithful member of the Church of St. Mary. She enjoyed playing card games, bingo, cooking, gardening and was active in bridge clubs.
She is survived by her two sons, Jim (and Ann) Martinson of Hutchinson and John (and Joni) Martinson of Burnsville and three grandchildren, James, Alexis and Jason Martinson. Also surviving are three brothers, Dallas Boutin of Willmar, Dean (and Bev) Boutin of St. Peter and Ward (and Betty) Boutin of Deep Haven and two sisters, Cheryl (and Roger) Elfrink of North Mankato and Verna Skaalerud of Willmar, besides other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Joe in 2007; two brothers, Albert and Ronny; and one sister, Mary Lou.
