Dona Lou Wieking, age 91, of Willmar, died Wednesday morning, July 17, at the Mt. Olivet Careview Home in Minneapolis.
A graveside service will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Monday, July 22, at Oak Hill Cemetery in New London. There is no reviewal or visitation. Arrangements are with Peterson Brothers Funeral Home in Willmar. www.petersonbrothers.com
Dona Lou Wieking was born on September 22, 1927, in Sioux Falls, South Dakota, the daughter of William and Goldie (Swenson) Stuckenbroker. She was baptized in the Lutheran faith in Luverne, Minnesota and grew up on farms in Rock county, MN and South Dakota. On June 28, 1949, Dona was united in marriage to Vernon Wieking and worked at Tri State Fire Insurance in Luverne. Upon moving to Sioux City, Iowa; she worked at the County Highway Department and at UCIT Loan Company. Then in the 1950ʻs, Dona and Vern moved to Willmar and started their family business, Willmar TV & Refrigeration which they operated into the 1980ʼs. Dona joined Redeemer Lutheran Church in October 1951 and it became the center of her life. She was a member of the Altar Guild for 20 years, helped with kitchen serving, member of the Evening Guild and served as a Brownie leader. Dona also worked as an Election Judge and Chairman for 30 years. She was also a member of the Willmar Fire Fighters Auxiliary. Dona loved auctions, refinishing antiques and was a superb cook, known for her homemade bread and wonderful caramel rolls. Dona was a sweet, soft spoken, hard working, mild mannered and artistic woman, who is much loved and cherished by her family and friends.
She is survived by two daughters, Melody Mousavi and Dawn West, both of Richfield, and one son, Mark Wieking of Salt Lake City, Utah; three grandchildren, Christine, Nathan, and Ellie, and two great grandchildren, Chole and Coltlyn. Also surviving is a brother; Bill (Cork) Stuckenbroker and a sister Lavonne Dean, besides other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Vernon in 2010; daughter, Jana Wieking and a sister, Betty Nicole.
