Donald Danielson

Donald M. Danielson, age 94, of Willmar, died Sunday evening, November 17, at Bethesda Heritage Center Nursing Home in Willmar.

Memorial services will be held at a later date. Interment will be at the Memorial Gardens at the Church of the Master in Mesa, Arizona. Arrangements are with Peterson Brothers Funeral Home in Willmar.


Donald Marcus Danielson was born June 4, 1919, in Mitchell, South Dakota, the son of Samuel and Emma (Benson) Danielson. He grew up in Various communities in South Dakota and graduated from Coleman High School. In December 1939, he married Phyllis Mae Jones. Donald served in England with the Army Air Forces as a bombadier on B17 bombers during World War II. Following his discharge, he and Phyllis moved to Reading, Minnesota and later to Bigelow, Minnesota. Donald managed the Farmers Lumber Company in Bigelow until his retirement in 1981. In retirement, they lived in Mesa, Arizona for several years before moving to Willmar in 2009. Donald was a member of the Masonic Lodge.

He is survived by two sons: David Danielson of Willmar, MN and Brian Danielson of La Jolla, CA; two grandchildren; a great-grandchild; and other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife: Phyllis in 2011; two brothers: Arlton "Bud" Danielson and Keith Danielson; and a sister: Beatrice Cole.
