Donald Hayunga

Donald Hayunga, age 82, of Raymond, died unexpectedly on Wednesday morning, June 28, at his home in rural Raymond.

Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Saturday, July 1, at St. John's Lutheran Church in Raymond. Interment will be in the church cemetery with military honors provided by Austin F. Hanscom American Legion Post 167 of Willmar. Visitation will be 5-7 p.m. Friday, June 30, at St. John's Lutheran Church in Raymond and will continue one hour prior to the service at the church on Saturday.

Donald Wayne Hayunga was born May 9, 1935 in Raymond, Minnesota, the son of Elbertus and Minnie (Luck) Hayunga. He was baptized and confirmed at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Clara City. He grew up and received his education in the Raymond community, graduating from Raymond High School in 1953. Don served in the National Guard for nine years. He married Marion Steffen in May 1954 and two daughters, Patricia and Barbara, were born to their marriage. Don worked in sales for Steffen Implement in Raymond and drove truck for Prinsco.

Don was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church in Raymond and American Legion Post 167 in Willmar. He enjoyed his family, fishing, hunting, and flying his two airplanes. Don was known for his awesome sense of humor and his positive attitude.

He is survived by his wife, Marion of Raymond; his daughters, Patricia (and Raymond) Gilman of Cottage Grove, and Barbara (and Ronald) Madison of Alexandria; grandchildren, Shane Madison, Cory (and Kallie) Madison, Heather Jacobson, and Tyler Jacobson; great-grandchildren, Anissya Martinez and Knox Madison; a sister, Eunice (and Ervin) Dahlke; sisters-in-law, Doris Olson, Mildred Radunz and Gwen Steffen; and other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and a brother, Francis.
