Donald Kinter

November 25, 1935 — April 30, 2017

Donald E. Kinter, age 81, of Willmar, died Sunday morning, April 30, at Bethesda Grand Nursing Home in Willmar.
A private family graveside service will be held at a later date at the Bethel Lutheran Cemetery in Willmar. Arrangements are with Peterson Brothers Funeral Home in Willmar. www.petersonbrothers.com.
Don was born on November 25, 1935 in Coral, Pennsylvania the son of Frank and Jane (Harris) Kinter. He moved to Willmar with his mother to live with his oldest sister, Margaret (and Lawrence Opsahl) in 1951. Don completed his education in Willmar, graduating from Willmar High School in 1953. He continued his education and attended St. Cloud State to study accounting. In 1961, he entered the US Army and served time in Germany. After his discharge in 1963, Don went to work for the railroad doing accounting first in Chicago, then Indianapolis and finishing his career in Philadelphia. After his retirement, he returned to Willmar to enjoy 23 years of retirement. He enjoyed family, long walks, a good cup of medium roast coffee, reading and MPR. Don will be surely missed by family and friends.
He is survived by one sister, Betty Snyder and family, one brother Frank Kinter and family in Pennsylvania. Also surviving are nieces, Paula (and Gary) Crowther, Annie Dowdell and Ruth Aungst all of Asheville, North Carolina, nephews David (and Deb Willis) Opsahl of Willmar, John (and Diane) Opsahl of Minnetonka and Mark (and Linda) Opsahl of Elk River, besides other nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews and other relatives and friends.
Don was preceded in death by his parents, sister Margaret, brother Jack Kinter, nephew James, niece Beth Ann, two brothers-in-law, Lawrence Opsahl and Ken Snyder and two sisters-in-law, Bernadine and Mary Ellen.
