Donald L. Schultz, age 82, of Grove City, died unexpectedly Thursday afternoon, Nov. 2, at his residence.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, November 10, at Trinity Lutheran Church in Grove City. Visitation will be from 5-7 p.m. on Thursday, Nov. 9, at Trinity Lutheran Church and will continue for one hour prior to the service. Donald Loren Schultz was born on January 12, 1935, in Paynesville, Minnesota, the son of Loren and Gladys (Howe) Schultz. He grew up on the family farm near Grove City and graduated from Grove City High School in 1953. On December 18, 1954, Donald was united in marriage to Merliene Margaret Mazo and they made their home on the family farm. Donald was engaged in farming his entire life. He also worked part-time as a school bus driver in the AC/GC School District and as a laborer for EBO Farms. Donald was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church and served on church council. He was a board member of the Swede Grove Township and the Swede Grove United Fund. Donald enjoyed area stock car racing and attending the sporting events and cattle shows that his grandchildren and great grandchildren participated in.
He is survived by his loving wife of over 62 years, Merliene of Grove City; four sons, Barry (and Mary) Schultz of Grove City, Lee (and Pamela) Schultz of Comfrey, Cary (and Jane) Schultz of Atwater and Mark Schultz of Grove City; nine grandchildren, eighteen great grandchildren and two great great grandsons. Also surviving is one sister, Gwen (and Marlin) Sackett of Eden Prairie and one sister-in-law, Leona Schultz of Litchfield, besides other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, William "Billy".
