Donna Mae Frost, age 72, of Maple Grove, formerly of Willmar, died Sunday morning, June 7, at Hennepin County Medical Center in Minneapolis.
Funeral services will be 11:00 A.M. Thursday, June 11, at the United Methodist Church in Willmar. Interment will be at the Home Cemetery in Sleepy Eye at 4:00 P.M. on Saturday, June 13. Visitation will be from 5 to 8 P.M. on Wednesday, June 10, at Peterson Brothers Funeral Home in Willmar and one hour prior to the service at the church. Memorials to the Polycystic Kidney Disease Foundation are preferred.
Donna was born on February 14, 1937, (on Valentines's Day by Dr. Valentine) at her parents home near Amiret, Minnesota. She was the oldest of seven children of Wilbert and Bernita Vanderwerf. She grew up in Sleepy Eye, graduated from Sleepy Eye High School in 1955 and a Business College in Minneapolis. On July 3, 1958, at the Methodist Church in Sleepy Eye, Donna was married to Wyman Frost. They lived and farmed in the Svea community. Donna managed the Willmar Community College bookstore for over 31 years. She retired in 1989 due to health problems. Donna later moved to the Twin Cities and was employed at Target and as a rental property manager. She was a volunteer for the DFL Party, Home Extension and Polycystic Kidney support groups. She was also a 4-H Leader, active member of the American Federation of State, County and Municipal Employees Union, and her church, serving as a Methodist Lay Speaker.
She is survived by her three children, Connie (and Scott) Stahnke of Spicer, Colleen Frost of Maple Grove and Caren (and Bradley) Carlson of Paynesville; seven grandchildren, Samantha, Ross, Alexander, Andrew, Larry, Eliza and Brandon; five siblings, Janice (and Dennis) Krueger of Svea, Gary (and Jody) Vanderwerf of Windom, Roy (and Sally) Vanderwerf of Minneapolis, Twollie (and Kristin) Vanderwerf of Burnsville and Kevin (and Kim) Vanderwerf of Oro Valley, Arizona and a half sister, Geraldine Shaikoski of Fairmont, besides other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents; one sister, Judith Warnke and a brother-in-law, Melvin Warnke.
