Doris Berscheid

Doris Marie Berscheid, age 91, of Atwater, died Thursday, December 19, at the Bethesda Heritage Center in Willmar.

A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on January 4, at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Atwater. Interment will be in Union Cemetery. There is no reviewal or visitation. Arrangements are with the Peterson Brothers Atwater Funeral Home.

Doris was born August 26, 1922, to Charles and Alma (Peterson) Miller. She was baptized at Grove City, MN and was confirmed at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Atwater. She grew up in Harrison Township and the Atwater community and attended school at District 3. On September 26, 1945, she was united in marriage to Stanley Berscheid of Kimball. To this union was born two sons, Michael Allen Berscheid and Mark Steven Berscheid. Doris was active in church activities at Immanuel and also loved to do crafts. She worked at Town Talk Bakery in Willmar, Atwater Locker Plant and for several years as a clerk at Bach's Grocery and Bakery in Atwater. In 1988, she became employed by Green Thumb as curator at the Atwater Area Historical Society Museum.

She is survived by two sons, Michael (and Carol) Berscheid of Rochester and Mark Berscheid of Atwater; three step-granddaughters and their families; two sisters, Dorothy Johnson of Atwater and Janet Johnson of New London, and several nieces and nephews.


She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Stanley in 1985; and five brothers.
