Doris J. Madison, age 83, of Willmar, died Saturday evening, April 16, at Bethesda Heritage Center in Willmar.
Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Wednesday, April 20, at Calvary Lutheran Church in Willmar. Interment will be in Cloverleaf Memorial Park Cemetery in Willmar. Visitation will be 5-7 p.m. Tuesday at Peterson Brothers Funeral Home in Willmar and one hour prior to the service at the church.
Doris was born July 8, 1927, in Sunburg, Minnesota, the daughter of Peter and Cora (Hagen) Tangen. She was baptized and confirmed at West Lake Lutheran Church near Sunburg. She grew up and attended school in the rural New London area and graduated from New London High School in 1945. She then worked for several restaurants in the area. In 1947, she married James Madison. They had two sons, Doug and Randy. Doris worked as a warehouse supervisor for Somody Supply from 1963 to 1989. Doris was a member of Calvary Lutheran Church. She enjoyed baking and made wonderful cookies and donuts. She also enjoyed visiting with her friends and family, especially the time spent with her grandchildren.
She is survived by her husband, Jim; two sons, Doug (and Diane) Madison and Randy (and Marlene) Madison, both of Willmar; five grandchildren. Scott (and Sue) Madison of St. Cloud, Tammy (and Jesse) Swanson of Pennock, Rick (and Mary) Madison of Spicer, Bill (and Sarah) Madison of Fergus Falls; and Sara (and Luke) Sjoberg of Willmar; and fourteen great-grandchildren, Megan McBride, Christopher and Hunter Madison, Mitchel, Alexys and Allyse Swanson, Payton and Emma Madison, Mia and Alex Madison, and Hunter, Addie, Hudson and Owen Sjoberg. Also surviving are a sister, Ruby Patterson of Oakdale; a brother, George (and Norma) Tangen of New London; and other relatives and friends
She was preceded in death by her parents; three brothers, Harold, Russell and Sydney Tangen; and two sisters, Pearl Gerhardson and Lorraine Felton.
