Doris M. Messenbrink, age 89, of Lake Lillian, died Thursday morning, May 23, at the Bethesda Heritage Center in Willmar.
Private funeral services will be held at a later date. Arrangements are with Peterson Brothers Funeral Home in Willmar.
Doris Mable Messenbrink was born on September 9, 1923, near Spirit Lake, Iowa, the daughter of Ernest and Mable (Butler) Whiteford. She grew up and received her education in Jeffers and was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith. On June 18, 1943, Doris was united in marriage to Walter Messenbrink. Shortly after their marriage, they moved to Lake Lillian where they farmed and raised their four children.
She is survived by one son, Randy Messenbrink of Lake Lillian; two daughters, Lanet (and Gary) Sammons of Spicer and LeAnn Messenbrink of Willmar; seven grandchildren and seven great grandchildren, besides other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Walter in 1977; one son, Calvin in 1991 and two brothers, Donald and Darel. Blessed be her memory!
