Dorothy Maye Otten, age 99, of Willmar, died Saturday afternoon, February 6, at the Bethesda Heritage Center in Willmar. Funeral services will be held at 1:30 PM on Wednesday, February 10, at Peterson Brothers Funeral Home. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
Dorothy was born on November 22, 1910, in Twin Brooks, South Dakota, the daughter of Irvin and Blanche (Wright) Kruger. She grew up in Milbank, South Dakota and graduated from Milbank High School in 1929. After moving to Willmar in 1943, Dorothy worked in the food service department for Rice Hospital and the Bethesda Homes. She was a long time member of the First Baptist Church in Willmar. She loved camping, cooking and baking and sharing those homemade goodies with others. Dorothy's grandchildren and great grandchildren were her pride and joy.
She is survived by one son, Byron Otten of Washington state and one daughter, Barbara Maye (and Jonathan) Johnson of Willmar. Also surviving are eleven grandchildren, fourteen great grandchildren and one great great granddaughter, besides other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents and two brothers, Al and Ralph Kruger.
