Dorothy "Dodo" Taylor

Dorothy “Dodo” Taylor, age 98 of New London, passed away Friday, Dec. 11, at Glen Oaks Care Center in New London.

A celebration of Dodo’s life will be held at a later date when restrictions allow.  Memorials may be directed to either Our Lady of the Lakes Catholic Church in Spicer of a veteran’s organization of your choice.  A private interment will be held at Ft. Snelling National Cemetery.  Arrangements are with the Peterson Brothers Green Lake Funeral Home in Spicer.  www.petersonbrothers.com

She was born on February 12, 1922, in Belgrade, Minnesota, the daughter of Henry and Elizabeth (Olson) Wohlleb.  She grew up in Belgrade and graduated from Belgrade High School.  Dorothy continued her education at St. Benedict’s College and the University of Minnesota, graduating with a degree in Dental Hygiene.

On July 28, 1945, in Sioux Falls, South Dakota, Dorothy was united in marriage to James “Howie” Taylor, where James was out processing from the U.S. Army Air Corps, having recently returned from England after serving as a bombardier on an B-24 Bomber with the 8th Air Force.  They made their home in Golden Valley where she worked for Dr. Dennis Johnson for 35 years.

Following retirement, they moved to Spicer and enjoyed Green Lake and golfing at the Little Crow Country Club.  Howie passed away after 58 years of marriage and then Dorothy moved to New London where she spent countless hours entertaining her many friends.

She is survived by three sons, David Taylor of Cross Lake, Danny (and Shari) Taylor of Woodbury and Jim Taylor of Brooklyn Park; five grandchildren and four great grandchildren, besides other relatives and friends..

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; one brother, DeWayne and one sister, Leora.
