Dr. James E. Larrabee

December 13, 1951 — February 23, 2025

Spicer

Dr. James Emerson Larrabee, 73, of Spicer, Minnesota, died Sunday, February 23rd after a long and hard-fought battle with lung cancer.

Jim was born December 13, 1951, the son of Dr. Walter and Harriet Larrabee. He attended Willmar High School, graduating in 1969. He continued his education at Hamline University, going on to pursue his passion for medicine at the University of Minnesota Medical School and residency at Tulane University in New Orleans. Upon achieving his dream of becoming a physician, Jim returned home to Minnesota to practice internal medicine in the Twin Cities, where he was well-loved by his patients.  After retiring in 2015, Jim moved permanently to his beloved family cabin on Green Lake in Spicer where he enjoyed boat rides, spending time with family and friends, and watching his favorite team, the Minnesota Vikings, convinced every year would be THE year.

He is survived by his family Tess Larrabee, David Larrabee, Elizabeth Houser (Jon) and Quinn Houser.

Jim was preceded in death by his parents, sister Judith Martin (Jack), and brother Walter Larrabee.

A private burial will be held at a later date at Oak Wood Cemetery in Rochester, Minnesota.  In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Mayo Clinic Cancer Research Fund and St. Jude Children’s Hospital.   Arrangements are entrusted to Peterson Brothers Green Lake Funeral Home in Spicer. www.petersonbrothers.com
