Edith Larson

Edith M. Larson, age 100, of Willmar, died Tuesday, November 11, at Bethesda Heritage Center Nursing Home in Willmar.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, November 18, at the United Lutheran Church in Lake Lillian. Interment will be at the Lake Lillian Community Cemetery. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church on Tuesday. Arrangements are with the Peterson Brothers Funeral Home in Willmar. www.petersonbrothers.com

Edith Marie Larson was born on August 29, 1914, in Lake Lillian, Minnesota, the daughter of J. Albert and Johanna (Bengtson) Nelson. She graduated from Willmar High School and St. Cloud State with her Teaching Certificate. She taught in rural school for a few years and in 1939, was married to Kenneth H. Johnson. They lived and farmed in the Lake Lillian community and Edith also worked for the Gedney Cucumber Company. Edith and Kenneth enjoyed vacationing in Brownsville, Texas. In her church, Edith was active in Sunday School and various church women's organizations. In her community, Edith was active in Extension Work and the Farmers Union. Kenneth died in 1983. Six years later, on September 17, 1989, Edith was married to Art Larson at the First Lutheran Church in Lake Lillian. They made their home in Robbinsdale. Following Arts death in 2001, Edith moved to Sunrise Village in Willmar and in 2006, she moved into Bethesda Heritage Center.

She is survived by one sister, Novia Coil of Lake Lillian; two step-daughters, Lois (and Glenn) Mauston of Florida and Karen (and Wayne) Meisner of Rochester; and several nieces and nephews, besides other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents; both husbands, Kenneth and Art; two brothers, Rudolph and Wallace; two sisters, Eva and Agnes; and one foster son, Kenneth Pfleghaar.
