Edna Onnen

Edna L. Onnen, age 88, of Willmar, died Sunday evening, July 27th, at the Scandia House in Willmar.
Services will be held at 11 A.M. Thursday, July 31st, at Vinje Lutheran Church in Willmar with Rev. Barbara Johnson officiating. The interment will be at a later date in the Fairview Cemetery in Willmar. Friends may call from 5-7:30 P.M. Wednesday at the Peterson Brothers Funeral Home and at the church one hour prior to the services.
Edna Louise Onnen was born on August 27, 1919, in Clara City, Minnesota, the daughter of Elsie (Fischer) and Conrad K. Tebben. She grew up on the family farm near Clara City and graduated from Clara City High School in 1937. On March 16, 1940, she was married to Kenneth C. Onnen in Clara City and they made their home on a farm near Priam. Edna worked as a school cook at the Priam School. Edna and Ken moved into Willmar in 1960 and Edna worked at Bethesda Heritage Center for 32 years as a nursing assistant. She was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church in Raymond and has been a member of Vinje Lutheran Church since 1960. She enjoyed playing bingo and cards and loved being with family and friends. Edna and Ken spent many hours fishing at Leech Lake.
She is survived by one son; David Onnen of Little Canada and four daughters; Doris (and Charles) Iversen of Detroit Lakes, Connie Feig of Raymond, Karen (and John) Berner of Golden Valley and Lori (and Michael) AhTou of Northbrook, Illinois. Also surviving are 12 grandchildren, 7 great grandchildren, 10 step great grandchildren, and 6 step great great grandchildren, besides other relatives and friends. Edna was preceded in death by her parents, husband (Kenneth in 1990) and two sisters (Symka Meints and Tetkea Grussing).
