Edward W. Davis, age 70, of Willmar, died unexpectedly Thursday evening, May 8, at his residence.
Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11:00 A.M. on Friday, May 16, at the Church of St. Mary in Willmar with Fr. Steve Verhelst officiating. Interment will be in Fairview Cemetery in Willmar. Visitation will be 5-8 P.M. on Thursday, May 15, at Peterson Brothers Funeral Home and will continue for one hour prior to the service at the church on Friday.
Edward William Davis was born May 29, 1937, in Aberdeen, South Dakota, the son of Everett and Mildred (Pugsley) Davis. He graduated from Worthington High School and attended Junior College in Worthington. He completed his degree and graduated from South Dakota State University in Brookings, South Dakota. On August 30, 1957, he married Caroyln Pomerenke. After completing his degree, they moved to Willmar, where they opened Ed Davis Business Machines in April 1962. He was a member of the Church of St. Mary. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus, Ducks Unlimited, Pheasants Forever and the Rocky Mountain Elks. He loved the outdoors, hunting big game in Alaska and fishing in Canada. He also raced stock cars for over 20 years and was inducted into the Minnesota Racing Hall of Fame in 2005.
He is survived by his wife, Carolyn; his four children, Todd (and Julie) Davis of Willmar, Kirk (and Barb) Davis of Willmar, Cari (and Jim) Kardell of Willmar and Scott Davis of Kandiyohi; seven grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. Also surviving are his three siblings, Dick Davis of Mankato, Linda (and Daryl) von Holdt of Hartford, South Dakota, and Larry (and Sharon) Davis of Worthington, besides other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; two nephews, Jay Davis and Brad von Holdt; one niece, Lynn Marie von Holdt and a brother-in-law, Roland Pomerenke.
