Elaine J. Thompson, age 83, of Willmar, died Sunday morning, June 7, at Rice Memorial Hospital in Willmar.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, June 12, at the Assembly of God Church in Willmar. Interment will be at Eagle Lake Lutheran Cemetery. Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. on Thursday, June 11, at Peterson Brothers Funeral Home in Willmar and will continue for one hour prior to the service at the church.
Elaine Joyce Thompson was born on December 9, 1931, in Willmar, Minnesota, the daughter of Harry and Ella (Ennenga) Osborn. She was the sixth born out of nine children. Elaine grew up and received her education in Willmar. On October 21, 1950, she was united in marriage to Willis E. Thompson and to this union they were blessed with six children. She worked hard as a homemaker. Her family was Elaine's life and she stressed how family was so important. Willis passed away in 2011. Elaine enjoyed gardening, mowing the lawn and going on walks and knowing her Jesus.
She is survived by three daughters, Deb (and Arnie) Golberg of Willmar, Linda (and Jim) Wiegmann of Raymond and Melissa (and Bart) Bradford of Hutchinson; eight grandchildren, Michelle (and Luke) Iverson, Richard (and Anita) Wiegmann, Samantha Wiegmann (and Lance Esterly), Travis (and Kari) Thompson, Hannah Weber (and Mike Stenzel), Paige Weber, Lola Bradford and Libby Bradford and eight great grandchildren, Mariah Steffensen, Keaira Schulenburg, Hayden Iverson, Rylan Wiegmann, Harlow Wiegmann, Leila Jaimes Iverson, Owen Iverson and Kylie Thompson. Also surviving are three sister-in-laws, Elaine Osborn of Ramsey, Gwen Osborn of Red Oak, IA., and Dianne Osborn of Rocklin, CA., besides other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; three daughters, Mary Katherine and Shirley Lee in infancy and Vicki Thompson in 2003; one grandson, Jesse Golberg in 2008; one sister, Kathryn Lundquist and seven brothers, Walter, Harry, Robert, Gary, Harris, LeRoy, and Gerald.
