Elda Nelson

April 20, 1926 — February 13, 2011

Elda M. Nelson, 84, of Willmar, died Sunday, February 13, at Bethesda PleasantView Nursing Home in Willmar.

Memorial services will be 2 p.m. Saturday, February 19, at the Calvary Lutheran Church Chapel in Willmar. Interment will be in Fairview Cemetery in Willmar. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church. Arrangements are with Peterson Brothers Funeral Home in Willmar.

Elda May Nelson was born April 20, 1926, on the family farm near Willmar, Minnesota, to Arthur and Ellen (Wickstrom) Hanson. She grew up in the Willmar area and attended District 48 School. She worked as a Rosie the Riveter in a factory during World War II. On June 8, 1946, she married Richard LeRoy Nelson and they made their home in Willmar. Elda was employed for many years at National T Grocery Store in Willmar and later in the laundry at the Willmar Junior High until her retirement. She was a member of Calvary Lutheran Church.

Elda enjoyed the Holidays, especially spending Christmas with her family. She loved to sing Christmas carols and was always in the kitchen baking goodies, especially her famous lefse.

Elda is survived by her granddaughters, Alissa Nelson of Miami, FL and Becky Nelson (and Nick Esping) of Minneota; great-grandsons, Landon and Logan Esping of Minneota; a daughter-in-law, Faye Angrimson of Taunton; two brothers: Wayne Hanson of Willmar and Dennis (and Marge) Hanson of Jackson; several nieces and nephews; and other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Richard in 2006; her children, Jacqueline in 1950, Douglas in 1991 and Donald in 2010; and two brothers, Arlow Hanson in 1986 and Ronald Hanson in 2006.
