Elizabeth "Betty" Marion Hanson, age 89, of Willmar, died Sunday afternoon, January 20, at Rice Care Center in Willmar. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Thursday, January 24, at Calvary Lutheran Church. Interment will be at Cloverleaf Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5-8 P.M. on Wednesday, January 23, at Peterson Brothers Funeral Home and will continue for one hour prior to the service at the church on Thursday.
Betty was born on September 10, 1918, on the family farm in Fahlun Township, Kandiyohi County, Minnesota, the daughter of Henry and Nora (Olson) Wicklund. She grew up and received her education in the rural Lake Lillian community and was baptized and confirmed at Grace Lutheran Church in Lake Lillian. Betty married Bethron "Bert" M. Hanson on October 10, 1935, in Willmar. They lived in Lake Lillian, Atwater and later moved to Willmar. She was a past member of Immanuel Lutheran Church in Atwater, the Atwater American Legion Auxiliary and the Litchfield Fraternal Order of Eagle's Auxiliary and a current member of Calvary Lutheran Church. Betty enjoyed baking, sewing, reading, canning foods, crossword puzzles and cryptos.
She is survived by three daughters, Janice (and Victor) Tacheny of Litchfield, Bonnie (and Gerard Rodrigues) Hanson of Artecia, CA and Shari Felleson of Willmar; six grandchildren, Pam (and Charlie) Johnson, Paula (and Jim) Hill, Pat Tacheny, Philip (and Michelle) Beecroft, Rick (and Melissa) Beecroft and Beret (and Mike) Ilko and 6 1/2 great grandchildren, Jairod, Chelcie, Brandon, Lizzy, Spencer, Wyatt and baby Ilko. Also surviving is a brother, George (and Joan) Wicklund of Spicer, besides other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Bethron in 1999; two sisters, Kendrietta Bomstad and Dana Tinnes; and five brothers, Henning, Harris, Alton, Allen and Gene Wicklund.
