Elizabeth T. (Riedger) Kiecker, age 90, of Litchfield formerly of the Atwater and Willmar area, died Monday morning, December 8th, at the Emmanuel Home in Litchfield.
Funeral services will be held at 2 P.M., Thursday, December 11th, at the Church of Christ in Kandiyohi with Jerry Skinness officiating. The interment will be in the Cloverleaf Memorial Park Cemetery in Willmar. Friends may call one hour prior to the services at the church. Arrangements are with the Peterson Brothers Funeral Home in Willmar.
Elizabeth Tena Kiecker was born on October 6, 1918, in the Canby area, the daughter of Tena Dickie (Eilers) and Charles William Clapp. She grew up in the Canby area, worked candling eggs and graduated from Canby High School in 1941. She continued her education and graduated from the Teachers Academy in 1942. Elizabeth taught school in rural Canby area and rural schools in the Lincoln and Yellow Medicine Counties. On May 16, 1954, she was married to William Riediger at the Parsonage of the Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Taunton, Minnesota. They made their home in Canby until 1954 when they moved to Marshall. They lived in several places around the Marshall area and in about 1961 moved to the Svea-Blomkest area and in about 1965 moved to Willmar. William died May 25, 1968. In 1972, Elizabeth married Herman Kiecker and they made their home in the rural Lake Lillian area. Herman died March 25, 1978 and she moved to Atwater. Elizabeth lived at the Paynesville Manor in Paynesville for a short time, moved back to Atwater and in December of 2006 moved to the Emmanuel Nursing Home in Litchfield where she has resided since. She was an active member of her church and taught Sunday School for many years. Elizabeth enjoyed Bible study, reading, doing research, sewing and baking. She loved to be with family and friends and share their lives.
She is survived by two sons: Kenneth (and Carla) Riediger of Abilene, Texas and Ronald (and Jeanie) Riediger of Diamond, Missouri, four grandchildren and two great grandchildren. Also surviving are two brothers; Charles (and Lucille) Clapp of Marshall and Edward Clapp of Zimmerman, four sisters; Martha Hanson of Canby, MN. Mary Beattie of Canby, Oregon, Lillian Dwight of Aberdeen, South Dakota and Alice (and Phil) Prickett of Avon, Indiana, and one brother-in-law, Elizabeth was preceded in death by her parents, both husbands, one son in infancy (LeRoy James Riediger), one sister (Sarah Locken) and 4 brother-in-laws.
