Ellsworth Florentine Renstrom, age 88, of Willmar, formerly of Hutchinson, died Friday, June 1, at Infinia Care Center in Willmar.
Funeral services will be 9:30 a.m. Friday, June 8, at the Calvary Lutheran Church Chapel in Willmar. Interment will be in Ft. Snelling National Cemetery in Minneapolis. Visitation will be 1/2 hour prior to the service. Arrangements are with Peterson Brothers Funeral Home in Willmar.
He was born August 7, 1918, in Lake Lillian, to William and Mathilda (Pearson) Renstrom. He grew up and received his education in the Lake Lillian community. He took Accounting and Business Administration courses at St. Cloud Business College, and served in the Civil Conservation Corps from 1936 to 1937 in the State of Utah. He married Ruby Hansen of Lake Lillian, on October 16, 1939. They lived in Lake Lillian and Atwater, and moved to Hutchinson in 1945. Ellsworth worked with his father in the carpentry business until he was inducted into the U.S Army. He served with the 798th Field Artillery from 1943 to 1945 during World War II . He was office manager for Scott Motor Company in Bloomington and later managed a mobile home sales business in Hutchinson. His wife Ruby passed away February 11, 1981 after a long battle with Alzheimer's disease. He married Margaret (Lang) Roulet on September 21, 1991. They made their home in Hutchinson until 2000, when they moved to Willmar. They resided for the last several years at Infinia Care Center in Willmar. Ellsworth loved to help others, especially those in need and received blessings in doing so. He loved to preach and sing the gospel and play his harmonica.
He is survived by his wife, Margaret; his daughter, Patricia McKibben of Surprise, Arizona; one step-daughter, Mary (and Virgil) Froehlich of Durango, Colorado; five step-grandchildren; four step-great-grandchildren; one step-great-great-grandchild; many nieces and nephews and other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; his first wife, Ruby; three brothers, and eight sisters.
