Elnora Orella Odell, age 87, of Paynesville and formerly of Brooten, died Thursday evening, August 21, at the Koronis Manor in Paynesville.
A family memorial service will be held at Zumbro Lutheran Church in Rochester, MN. Internment will be at Trinity Lutheran Church Cemetery in Brooten at 1:00 pm. on Sunday, September 21.
Elnora (Ellingson) Odell was born January 16, 1921, to Ole and Minnie (Jorgenson) Ellingson on the family farm in Norway Lake Township, rural Sunburg. She attended 8 years of country school and graduated from Brooten High School. She was united in marriage to Wallert Francis Odell of Brooten, MN in 1940. After her marriage to Wallert Odell she worked for 5 years at the Gambles store. She also worked several years as a bookeeper at the Brooten Creamery and 25 years as bookkeeper and assistant to Dr. Frear, M.D.
She served 10 years on the Glacial Hospital Board acting as both secretary and treasurer. She also served as treasurer of Trinity Lutheran Church. She had been a Sunday school teacher and belonged to the TLCW and Circles. Elnora was Brooten High School's first cheerleader.
Elnora lived at her residence in Brooten until having a stroke. She has been a resident at the Koronis Manor in Paynesville since January of 2001.
Elnora is survived by her son, Wayne and (Ethelyn) Odell of Rochester; grandson, Kevin and (Laura) Odell of Rochester; great-grandchildren, Grace, Charles and Samuel Odell; and two siblings, Oris Ellingson and Idella (and Sigfred) Knutson, both of Brooten, besides other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Wallert and granddaughter, Kristine Odell.
