Elouise Olga Clementson, age 96, of Willmar, formerly of Eagle Bend, went home to be with the Lord, Friday, July 5, 2013, at the Scandia Assisted Living Center in Willmar.
A celebration of her life will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, July 11, at Eagle Lake Lutheran Church. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church on Thursday. Burial will be a private ceremony at a later date. Arrangements are with Peterson Brothers Funeral Home in Willmar.
Elouise Olga Clementson was born on March 12, 1917 in Clarissa, Minnesota, the daughter of Edwin and Ellen (Odland) Johnson. She grew up near Clarissa, attended country school and graduated on June 2, 1933 at the age of 16 as valedictorian of her class.
Elouise was united in marriage to Roy Clementson on July 12, 1941 at Petri Lutheran Church in Eagle Bend, Minnesota. They had no less than 4 flat tires on two cars on their way to the church. They made their home and farmed near Wykeham Township until 1967 after which they moved to Eagle Bend. Elouise was employed at Bertha Hospital and proudly obtained her certificate as a food service supervisor. This was a perfect vocation for her as cooking for others was one of her great passions.
After the death her beloved husband of 59 years, she moved to Willmar to be near her daughter Carmen. While living in Willmar, she enjoyed attending the Senior Citizens Center, swimming, and a good game of Whist.
Elouise was a woman of great faith and always the first to lend a hand in the time of need. She was hardworking and tenacious, an inspiration to her family as well as friends; known for her legendary baked goods and her tireless dedication to her family. Whether it was sewing baby quilts for every newborn that was welcomed into our family or making hot cross buns for Easter she rose to the occasion. Her true legacy to her family is her example of a life well lived.
She is survived by her four children; Corrinne (and Bud) Hajek of Monticello, Madeleine (and Jerry) Bernard of Stone Lake, WI., Mark Clementson of Hayward, WI., and Carmen Clementson of Willmar; 11 grandchildren; 11 great grandchildren; and one sister, Grace Huddleston of Elk River, besides many other loved ones. Most recently, she celebrated the birth of her namesake, Elouise Harper Clementson, on May 29, 2013.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Roy in 2000; infant brother, Irwin; and sister, Edith.
The family would like to thank the staff at Scandia Assisted Living Center, Rice Hospice, and Dr. Roisland who has been her physician for several years, for their kind, compassionate, and dedicated care to our beloved mother.
