Elsie Mary Dahl, age 91, of Willmar, died Saturday evening, Jan. 12, at Rice Memorial Hospital. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Tuesday, Jan 15, at the First Covenant Church. Interment will be at Cloverleaf Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church on Tuesday. Funeral arrangements are with Peterson Brothers Funeral Home.
Elsie Mary Dahl was born on March 16, 1916, on the family farm near Svea, Minnesota, the daughter of Carl and Alma (Nelsen) Johnson. She grew up and received her education in the rural Svea community and was baptized and confirmed at the Svea Evangelical Lutheran Church. On July 20, 1939, in Willmar, Elsie was united in marriage to Levi C. Dahl. They made their home in Willmar where she worked as a waitress at the Lakeland Hotel and was later employed at Juba's Supervalu Foods as a baker, retiring in 1984. She was a long time member of the First Covenant Church and served as a Sunday School teacher and member of the Dorcas circle. Elsie enjoyed sewing, embroidery, baking many goodies and spending time with her family and friends.
She is survived by three daughters, Lois (and Wes) Ostrom of Florida, Carol (and Gary) Solbrack of Willmar and Kathryn (and Lyman) Marks of Bloomington; five grandchildren and twelve great grandchildren. Also surviving is one brother, Barney Johnson of Willmar and one sister, Helen Sjoberg of Willmar, besides other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Levi in 1982; one brother, Edward Johnson; one sister, Hilda Bergstrand; one sister-in-law, Doris Johnson and one brother-in-law, Vernon Sjoberg.
