Elvin L. Dragt, age 76, of Willmar, died Sunday morning, July 8, at the Bethesda Heritage Center in Willmar.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday, July 11, at Willmar Christian Reformed Church. Interment will be at Holland Township Cemetery in Prinsburg. Visitation will be from 5-7 p.m. on Tuesday, July 10, at Peterson Brothers Funeral Home and one hour prior to the service.
Elvin Luverne Dragt was born October 28, 1935, in Prinsburg, Minnesota, the son of Harold E. and Grace (Braker) Dragt. He grew up and received his education in the Prinsburg community and returned to work on the family farm. From 1955 to 1957, Elvin served in the U.S. Navy aboard the U.S.S. Forrestal and U.S.S. Mazama. Following his discharge, he worked at Prinsburg Sodding Company. For 39 years, Elvin was employed at Seeco Company (now known as Trouw Nutrition) in Willmar. He was a member of the Willmar Christian Reformed Church. Elvin's hobbies included bowling, reading and watching sports.
He is survived by two sons, Leon (and Donna) Sandberg of Seattle, WA. and Lonnie Sandberg of Forest City, IA.; three grandchildren, Kylie, Eric and Kelsey Sandberg all of Seattle, WA.; two brothers, Harlan (and Sharon) Dragt of Willmar and Delton (and Karen) Dragt of Hutchinson; four sisters, Janice Baker of Spicer, Carol (and Don) Steffen of Raymond, Marletta (and Mark) Tazelaar of Rockford and Lynette (and Kerry) Christoffer of Montevideo and one sister-in-law, Bonnie Messer of Windom, besides numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, Garey; one nephew, Corey Steffen and a brother-in-law; Don Baker.
