Eugene A. Reigstad, age 79, of Willmar, sadly left us Tuesday morning, July 9, at Rice Memorial Hospital in Willmar after a long stay at Rice Care Center.
The family will hold a memorial service at 1:30 p.m. on Tuesday, July 16, at Vinje Lutheran Church in Willmar. There is no reviewal or visitation. Interment will be at Fairview Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials to the family are preferred.
Eugene "Gene" Arnold Reigstad was born on January 18, 1934, in Willmar, Minnesota, the son of Elmer and Ruth (Cummings) Reigstad and the great grandson of the O.S. Reigstad clan of the Pennock and Willmar areas. He grew up and received his education in Willmar community. Gene served his country from 1951 to 1953 during the Korean War in the U.S. Airforce and was stationed in Hawaii. He was employed as a heavy equipment operator in the construction industry for many years. He was a member of Vinje Lutheran Church and a proud member of Local #49 Operating Engineers.
He is survived by two daughters, Susan Reigstad of Eagan and Kathy Turbitt of Denver, CO.; two brothers, Richard Reigstad of Willmar and Gary Stranberg of Minneapolis, besides many other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, Danny R. Reigstad who was killed in action in VietNam in 1967; one sister, Joann Lord; two nephews, Michael Lord and Jeffrey Reigstad; one aunt, Marion Reigstad and son-in-law, Steve Gallagher.
