Evans Francis Leikvoll, age 83, of Lake Lillian died Thursday afternoon, Jan. 25, at the Infinia Care Center in Willmar following an extended illness. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 P.M. on Monday, Jan. 29, at Peterson Brothers Funeral Home. Interment will be at the Lake Lillian Community Cemetery. Visitation will be from 3-5 P.M. on Sunday, Jan. 28, at Peterson Brothers Funeral Home and for one hour prior to the service on Monday.
Evans was born on February 13, 1923, in Hutchinson, Minnesota, the son of Albert and Emma (Leske) Leikvoll. He grew up in the rural Lake Lillian area near Big Kandiyohi Lake and received his education in the country schools. At a young age, he and his brother, Warren, owned and operated a roller rink on Big Kandiyohi Lake. On February 6, 1947, he was married to Gladys Mae Tusha and they made their home in the Lake Lillian community. Evans was self-employed in the carpentry business for many years, retiring in 1987. He enjoyed fishing, attending flee markets and spending time with family and friends.
He is survived by his wife, Gladys of Lake Lillian; two children, Francis Leikvoll of Lake Lillian and Mary Lou Johnson of Lake Lillian; six grandchildren and three great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; one son in infancy; one grandson, Wayne Johnson; one great granddaughter, Shelby Johnson and two brothers.
