KANDIYOHI -Evelyn B. Erickson, age 92, of Kandiyohi, died Saturday evening, May 16th, at Glen Oaks Care Center in New London.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 AM Thursday, May 21st, at Church of St. Patrick in Kandiyohi with Fr. Jeffrey P. Horejsi officiating. The interment will be in the church cemetery. Friends may call from 5-7:30 PM, Wednesday at the Church of St. Patrick and 1 hour prior to the service Thursday. There will be a Parish Prayer service at 7:30 PM Wednesday at the church. Arrangements are with Peterson Brothers Funeral Home in Willmar.
Evelyn Beatrice Erickson was born on December 27, 1916, in Willmar, the daughter of Herman and Minnie (Halvorson) Krueger. She grew up and received her education in Willmar and was baptized and confirmed at Vinje Lutheran Church. On November 27, 1938, she was married to Arnold "Bud" Erickson and they made their home on a farm near Kandiyohi. Evelyn became a member of St. Patrick's Catholic Church in 1949 and has been an active member since. She was a talented pianist and played at the Odd Fellows Lodge and the Elk's Lodge during the 1930's and for a few years at St Patrick's Catholic Church. In 2001 and 2002, she played piano with the Spicer "Old Time Band" on Monday nights at the Dethloff Senior Center in Spicer. Evelyn loved being with and visiting with family and friends. She enjoyed crocheting and gardening. Evelyn died last Saturday evening at the Glen Oaks Care Center in New London. She had attained the age of 92 years, 4 months and 19 days.
She is survived by one son, Charles Erickson of Kandiyohi; three grandchildren; five step-grandchildren; five great-grandchildren and numerous step-great-grandchildren, besides other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Arnold Erickson in 1998; two sisters, Jean Gunderson and Mildred Wannow and a daughter-in-law, Patricia Erickson in 2005.
