Evelyn V. Klayman, 89, of Willmar, died Friday morning, September 2, at Bethesda PleasantView Nursing Home in Willmar.
Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Tuesday, September 6, at Vinje Lutheran Church in Willmar. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church. There will be no reviewal.
Evelyn Verna Klayman was born March 4, 1922, in Waubun, Minnesota, the daughter of Henry and Mary (Paulsen) Klabunde. She grew up in Waubun, was baptized and confirmed at Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Mahnomen and graduated from Wauban High School. She attended business college in St. Cloud and later moved to St. Paul, where she worked for an insurance company and for the Missouri Pacific Railroad.
On June 2, 1950, she married Jack Klayman in St. Paul. They later moved to California. Evelyn worked as a data processor at Paramount Studios in Hollywood. They also owned and operated a restaurant in Los Angeles. In 1978, they returned to Willmar and Jack died later that year. Evelyn worked for Presbyterian Family Foundation in Willmar for twelve years until her retirement. She was a member of Vinje Lutheran Church.
She is survived by a sister, Penny (and Harold) Selseth of Willmar; two nieces, Kathryn Selseth and Rev. Kerry Selseth; and other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Jack in 1978; a brother, Donald Klabunde; and two sisters, Jeanette Hable and Dorothy Courts.
