Evelyn Mabel Knutson, age 92, of Willmar, died Saturday afternoon, September 8, at the Bethesda Heritage Center. Graveside service will be held at 10:00 A.M. on Friday, September 14, at Cloverleaf Memorial Park Cemetery. There is no reviewal or visitation. Funeral arrangements are with Peterson Brothers Funeral Home.
Evelyn was born on May 11, 1915, in New London, Minnesota, the daughter of Ole and Mabel (Reese) Newman. She grew up and received her education in the New London community and attended St. Cloud Teachers College. On July 5, 1938, Evelyn was married to Arthur O. Knutson and they lived throughout Kandiyohi County. She was employed at Juba's Super Value, Woolworth's and at the Willmar State Hospital, working with the mentally challenged individuals. She was a member of Vinje Lutheran Church. As a resident of Bethesda Homes, Evelyn was actively involved with many activities.
Evelyn enjoyed dancing, cooking, baking, spending time with her friends and traveling to see family members.
She is survived by her two daughters, Kathy Krause of North Las Vegas, NV., and Karen Madsen of The Villages, FL.; one daughter-in-law, Laurie Knutson of Bloomington; six grandchildren and four great grandchildren. Also surviving is a sister, Irene IVerson of Wright, MN., besides other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband and one son, Arthur Douglas Knutson in 2003.
