Evelyn Elsie Okeson, age 87, of Willmar, died Thursday morning, May 8, at Bethesda Pleasant View Nursing Home in Willmar.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Monday, May 12, at Redeemer Lutheran Church. Interment will be at Cloverleaf Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation is one hour prior to the service at the church on Monday. Arrangements are with Peterson Brothers Funeral Home.
Evelyn was born on June 13, 1920, in Sisseton, South Dakota, the daughter of Marshall and Elva (Broadhecker) Okeson. She grew up in Sisseton, was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith and graduated from Sisseton High School in 1938. She moved to St. Louis, Missouri and was employed for many years as a bookkeeper for an auto dealership in St. Louis, retiring in 1985. In 1997, Evelyn moved to Willmar and in 2000, she entered the Bethesda Pleasant View Nursing Home. She enjoyed dancing and bowling and volunteered many hours for the American Red Cross at the St. Louis Hospital. Evelyn was a member of Redeemer Lutheran Church.
She is survived by one nephew, Daniel (and Val) Selness of Willmar and three nieces, Sharon (and Jim) Sorenson of Clearwater, Vicky Chapin of Spicer and LeAnn (and Fernando) Gomez of Minneapolis, besides other relatives and close friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her sister, Selma Selness in 2007 and a long time special friend, George Belobrajdic.
