Evelyn M. Preslicka, age 78, of Kandiyohi, died Saturday, July 4, at Bethesda Pleasantview Nursing Home in Willmar.
Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, July 8, at the Church of St. Patrick in Kandiyohi with Fr. Jeffrey Horejsi officiating. Interment will be in the Lake Lillian Community Cemetery. Visitation will be 5-8 p.m. Tuesday, July 7, with a 5 p.m. Parish Prayer Service at Peterson Brothers Funeral Home in Willmar and will continue one hour prior to the service at the church. Memorials are preferred to the Humane Society of Kandiyohi County.
Evelyn Marie Preslicka was born February 6, 1931, in Dixon, South Dakota, the daughter of Bertrum and Emma (Fortuna) Frank. She grew up and received her education in the Dixon community. On November 5, 1947, she married Edward Preslicka in Winner, South Dakota. They made their home in the Lake Lillian area for 38 years, before moving to Kandiyohi in 1983. Evelyn worked as a cook for Hanson Silo Company for nearly 30 years and later for the D.A.C. in Kandiyohi. Evelyn was a former member of the Church of St. Thomas More in Lake Lillian and a current member of the Church of St. Patrick in Kandiyohi. She loved animals and fed many stray cats and strongly supported the Humane Society. Evelyn was a "people person" and loved to visit with everyone. She also enjoyed cooking, reading, sewing, playing cards and going out for dinner with Edward.
She is survived by her husband: Edward; a daughter: Gayle (and Frank) Heipel of Minneapolis; two sons: Ronald Preslicka of Lake Lillian and Steve Preslicka of Bird Island; five grandchildren: Eric (and Anne) Heipel, Rory Preslicka, Daisha Preslicka, Allie (and John) Plocher and Andy (and Jennie) Fulmer; seven great-grandchildren: Edie, Penny, Mary & Charlie Heipel, Elise Plocher and Madison & Jacob Fulmer; and other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents; a son: Edward Dean Preslicka; a brother: Dwayne Frank; and a sister: Joanne Brandt.
