Fern H. Euling, age 97, of Willmar, passed away at her residence on Saturday, July 9. A graveside service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday, July 13, at Fairview Cemetery in Willmar with Pastor Tony Freeburg officiating. Fern Helen Euling was born in Kandiyohi County on December 17, 1924, to Hazel and Fred Euling. Fern was an only child. Fern enjoyed a close and supportive relationship with both of her parents until they passed away. Fern also had the support of her cousin, Joey Werder, who also resides in Willmar.
Fern lived with her parents in her childhood home until 1971. She resided with Presbyterian Family Foundation from 1971-2021; where she enjoyed the company of her housemates and caring staff. At the end of her life, she resided with Divine House ICF, where she continued to get very good care and comfort. She worked at West Central Industries until she retired in 1990. She attended Bethesda Adult Day from 2004-2020 and she loved it there; especially any days that she got to dress up.
Fern was very full of spunk and life. She loved watching her shows, especially the Price is Right and Westerns. She loved looking through the newspaper and clipping coupons. She loved shopping and liked dressing very cute every day. She took a lot of pride in her outfits. She had a drive to keep learning and even at the age of 97, was working on learning her letters and working on reading site words.
Fern’s lifelong dream was to live in a big brick house with a fireplace. She passed away at home on July 9, in her dream house with a brick exterior and fireplace. She was surrounded by supportive staff who cared for her until the end.
She is survived by her cousin, Joey Werder of Willmar and numerous staff that have cared for her over the years.
Fern was proceeded in death by her parents, Fred and Hazel Euling.
