Frances M. Feig, age 91, of Raymond, died Monday morning, July 2, at Rice Care Center in Willmar.
A memorial service will be held 10:30 A.M. Wednesday, July 25, at the United Methodist Church in Raymond. Interment will be in Fairview Cemetery in Raymond. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service. Arrangements are with Peterson Brothers Funeral Home in Willmar. Memorials are preferred to Rice Care Center.
Frances Mary Feig was born March 18, 1916, in Mallard, Iowa, the oldest of six children born to Frank and Theo (Stowell) Schwint. Her family later moved to Sleepy Eye, Minnesota, where Frances graduated from Sleepy Eye High School in 1932. In 1933, she attended a post gradute program in the Sleepy Eye Teachers Training Program. She worked as a substitute teacher for a short time and later as a secretary for the Brown County Agricultural Agent Office. In 1941, she married Russell Feig and they moved to Raymond to join Russell's father in the family owned Farmer's State Bank. She worked at Farmer's State Bank from 1943 until her retirement in 1979. She served as the Raymond city treasurer and was the first woman on the city council. She was involved with the American Legion Auxiliary and numerous fund-raising drives in the community. Frances was also instrumental in bringing the Elcaba subsidizing housing to Raymond. She was a member of the United Methodist Church in Raymond, serving as church treasurer and with the Methodist WSCS. Frances lived in Raymond until 2001, when she moved to Rice Care Center in Willmar, where she resided until her death. While at Rice Care Center, Frances was President of the Resident Council, Queen Bee of the Rice Care Red Hat Society and active in many resident activites.
She is survived by her sons, Norman Feig (and April Burton) of Bradenton, Florida and Gary Feig of Hackensack; seven grandchildren and several great-grandchildren. Also surviving are a brother, Robert Schwint of Springfield; a sister, Marge (and Ivan) Sandmann of Sleepy Eye and several nieces and nephews, besides other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Russell in 2000 and two sisters, Grace Voelker and Hazel Ebelsisor.
