Frances D. Rahn, age 86, of Willmar, died Saturday evening, July 21, at Compassionate Cottage in Willmar.
The family will hold a celebration of life service at 11 a.m. Saturday, July 28, at Redeemer Lutheran Church in Willmar with visitation one hour prior to the service. Interment will be at Cloverleaf Cemetery in Willmar. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the West Central Dementia Awareness Network.
Frances was born June 15, 1932, in Norway Lake Township, the daughter of Elmer and Alice (Johnson) Freese. She grew up and attended school in rural Sunburg, Minnesota. She was baptized and confirmed at the Sunburg Norwegian Lutheran Church. On January 1951, she married Russel "Boots" Rahn at the West Norway Lake Lutheran Church. Frances, along with her best friend, Betsy Lesteberg, lived at her parents home in Willmar while their husbands were deployed to Korea.
Frances is survived by her three children: Lynn (and Renae) Rahn of Willmar, Nancy (and Mark) Chamberlain of Willmar, and Mark (and Connie) Rahn of North Augusta, SC; and five grandchildren: Matthew (and Andrea) Werder, Benjamin (and Mindy) Werder, Heather (and Brian) Westby, Ashley (and Thomas) Erdmann, and GW (and Leslie) Rahn; along with eleven great-grandchildren: Bruno, Luca, Ezekiel, Brecken, Piper, Gable, Alessandra, Joslilyn, Reagan, Andrew, and Mason. She is also survived by a sister: Karen Swanson of Pennock; a sister-in-law: Virginia Rahn of Waynesboro, PA; and several cousins, nieces, and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband: Boots in 1979; and two brothers: Elverd and Leland.
