Fritz Conrad Scharrer, age 90, of Lake Lillian and formery of Willmar, died Monday evening at Rice Memorial Hospital in Willmar.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 AM on Monday, March 22, at Peterson Brothers Funeral Home. Interment will be at Ft. Snelling National Cemetery in Minneapolis. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the funeral home on Monday.
Fritz Conrad Scharrer was born on December 4, 1919, in Aitkin, Minnesota, the son of Andrew and Hulda (Ringhand) Scharrer. He grew up and received his education in Aitkin and was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith. He served in the U.S. Army during WW II overseas in the Pacific. On February 14, 1948, in Litchfield, Minnesota, Fritz was married to Viola O. Davis and made their home in Litchfield. In 1950, They moved to Aitkin where Fritz worked in the iron mines. In 1953, they returned to Litchfield and he worked as a carpenter. In 1968, He moved to Willmar and began employment as a carpenter with Pederson Construction and later Nelson Construction, retiring in 1981. In 1992, Fritz began part time employment at Super Fair Foods. He was a charter member of the Church of Christ in Kandiyohi and member of both the Willmar V.F.W. and American Legion Posts.
He is survived by two sons, Michael (and Carol) Scharrer of Detroit Lakes and Fritz Jr. (and Sandy) Scharrer of Dallas, TX.; one daughter, Ranee (and Hugh) Strawn of Crystal Lake, IL.; and four grandchildren, Hilery Straun, Lauren Scharrer, Erik Scharrer and Brandon Scharrer. Also surviving are two brothers, Herman Scharrer of Minneapolis and Carl (and Shirley) Scharrer of Aitkin, besides other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers and three sisters.
