Gail L. Scheltens, age 59, of Atwater, died unexpectedly Saturday morning, July 27, at her residence in Atwater.
Services will be held at 1 P.M. Wednesday, July 1, at the First United Methodist Church in Raymond. The interment will be in the Fairview Cemetery in Raymond. Friends may call 1 hour prior to the service at the church. Memorials to the First United Methodist Church in Raymond or the Presbyterian Family Foundation are preferred. Gail Lynn Scheltens was born on July 15, 1955 in Willmar, Minnesota, the daughter of Myra O. (Sachariason) and Albertus L. Scheltens. She grew up and received her education in Raymond, graduating in 1974. She moved to Willmar and resided at Friendship House and worked with West Central Industries. She held several jobs at WCI, sewing machine operator, worked on the assembly and packaging lines, did beak trimming of turkeys with Willmar Poultry. She also was awarded "Sheltered Employee of the Year". Gail had lived in Presbyterian Family Foundation Homes in Willmar until 2 years ago when she moved to a PFF home in Atwater. She enjoyed the opportunities she had with PFF traveling to California, Florida, Washington DC and other places. Gail was an avid Vikings and Twins fan, she loved to watch the games, she enjoyed going to the Minnesota State Fair and she participated in the Special Olympics each year.
She is survived by 1 sister, Gwen Gramer of Bingham Farm, Michigan and 4 nephews; Michael Gramer, Timothy Gramer, J. Louis Gramer and Chad Scheltens, besides other relatives and friends. Gail was preceded in death by her parents and brother and sister-in-law Lary and Lee Scheltens.
