Galen Eugene Inselmann, age 63, of Atwater, died unexpectedly, Sunday afternoon, July 19, at the Fairview University of Minnesota Hospital in Minneapolis.
Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. on Tuesday, July 28, at the Immanuel Lutheran Church in Atwater. Interment will be at Union Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5-7 p.m. on Monday, July 27, at the Peterson Brothers Atwater Funeral Home and will continue for one hour prior to the service on Tuesday. Galen Eugene Inselmann was born on June 6, 1952, in Hutchinson, Minnesota, the son of Harvey and Frieda (Markgraf) Inselmann. He grew up in Atwater, graduated from Atwater High School in 1970 and from the Willmar Vo-Tech Automotive program in 1972. From 1978 to 1996, he owned and operated Galen's 66 gas and service station in Atwater. In 1979, Galen was married to Mary Olson. They made their home in the Atwater community and divorced in 1995.
Galen had an inventive mind, always fixing things better than they were. He was a hard worker with a strong work ethic. Galen had a big heart and would always help others in any time of need.
He is survived by his two sons, Joel (and Jamie) Inselmann of Kingston and Eric Inselmann of Silver Lake and two grandsons, Luke and Tyler. Also surviving are five siblings, Eileen (and Jim) Hegge of Big Lake, Janice (and Greg) Martin of Hutchinson, Ken Inselmann of Willmar, Neil (and JoAnn) Inselmann of Atwater and Leland Inselmann of Atwater, besides other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Richard Inselmann.
