Gary G. Honebrink, age 68, of Willmar, died Sunday afternoon, Oct 9th, at Rice Memorial Hospital in Willmar.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM on Thursday, Oct. 13, at Vinje Lutheran Church. Interment will be at Cloverleaf Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5-7 PM on Wednesday, Oct. 12, at Peterson Brothers Funeral Home and will continue for one hour prior to the service at the church.
Gary Gene Honebrink was born on May 25, 1943, in Willmar, Minnesota, the son of Frank H. and Marvel I. (Lovhaug) Honebrink. He grew up in Willmar, was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith and graduated from Willmar High School in 1961. From 1964-1967, Gary served his country in Vietnam in the U.S. Army. On October 24, 1970, in Spicer, Minnesota, Gary was married to Beverly A. Jacobsen. They made their home in Willmar. Gary was employed for over 28 years at the West Central Tribune as a pressman, retiring from there in 1998. Later that year, he became the depot manager in Willmar for the Minneapolis Star Tribune, fully retiring in 2010 due to health issues. Gary was a member of Vinje Lutheran Church and the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post #1639. He enjoyed car races and collecting model cars.
He is survived by his two children, Valerie Honebrink (and special friend, John Johannsen) of Spicer and Jeremy (and Angie) Honebrink of Alexandria and six grandchildren. Also surviving are two brothers, Forrest (and Theresa) Honebrink of Willmar and Ralph (and Karen-Rae) Honebrink of Atwater and one sister, Fransje Kuperus of Willmar, besides other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Beverly in 2003 and a brother-in-law, Leroy.
