Geraldine Alice Wallace, age 56, of Spicer, died Monday evening, March 15, at Rice Memorial Hospital in Willmar following a short illness with cancer.
A celebration of her life will be held at the Willmar Senior Citizens Center on Wednesday, March 17, from 5:30 PM - 8:30 PM. A graveside service will be held at a later date in Montevideo. Funeral arrangements are with Peterson Brothers Funeral Home.
Geraldine was born on October 22, 1953, in Belgrade, Minnesota, the daughter of Gerald and Dorothy (Boever) Pelkey. She grew up in the Belgrade and New London communities and graduated from New London High School. She received technical training at Ridgewater College and St. Cloud State University. Geraldine was employed for many years as a human service technician at the Willmar State Hospital, Chrysalis and P.F.F. She was an advocate for A.R.C. and People First. Geraldine enjoyed her work and being with family and friends.
She is survived by her three children, Christopher (and Paula) Wallace of Willmar, Jeremy Wallace (and special friend, Diane Rueckert) of Sartell and Jennifer (and David) Hernandez of Montevideo; four grandchildren, Zeppelin, David Jr., Zoey and Addy Jean. Also surviving are three brothers, Jerome Pelkey of Sauk Centre and Ronald (and Harriett) Pelkey of Sauk Centre and Larry (and Diane) Henjum of New London and two sisters, Gloria (and Milton) Tollefson of Sunburg and Elenora (and Jim) Sandstrom of Benson, besides other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Lee in 2007; one brother, Norbert and a sister-in-law, Carol.
