Gladys Levon Carlson, age 99, of Willmar, passed away on Thursday, March 21, at CentraCare Rice Memorial Hospital in Willmar.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, March 27, at Ebenezer Lutheran Church in Kandiyohi. Interment will be at Cloverleaf Memorial Cemetery in Willmar. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church. Arrangements are entrusted to the Peterson Brothers Funeral Home. www.petersonbrothers.com
Gladys was born on August 2, 1924, in Litchfield, Minnesota, the daughter of Victor and Stella (Hanson) Blomquist. She grew up in the Atwater area and graduated from Willmar High School. She worked as a bank teller in Kandiyohi for a few years. On June 12, 1948, Gladys was united in marriage to Lester Carlson and to this union, they were blessed with two sons. They lived and farmed near Atwater. Lester passed away in 1993. Gladys continued to live on the farm and later moved to Atwater and then to Willmar.
She was a life-long member of Ebenezer Lutheran Church in Kandiyohi. She was active in the Ladies Circle and was a very faithful member her entire life. Gladys enjoyed being hospitable, always serving meals and visiting with friends and neighbors. She was known for her delicious popovers and other baked treats. She especially enjoyed playing Scrabble, games and telling jokes and riddles. She had a sharp mind and excellent hearing.
Gladys is survived by her two sons, Loren Carlson (and special friend Melody Goodall) of Atwater and Gary (and Chris) Carlson of Atwater; three grandchildren, Michelle (and Troy) Grund, Julie Carlson, Jamie (and Kristen) Carlson; four great-grandchildren: ShaeLynn, Asher, Leo and Kevin, besides other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; two brothers and a granddaughter, Lisa in 2023.
We were all blessed to know her.
