Gladys Rossell

June 6, 1915 — December 13, 2009

Gladys Madeline Rossell, age 94, of Atwater, died Sunday morning, December 13, at the Sunnyview Care Center in Atwater. Funeral services will be held at 1:30 PM. at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Atwater. Burial will be at Union Cemetery. Visitation is one hour prior to the service at the church on Wednesday. Arrangements are with the Atwater Funeral Home.

Gladys was born on June 6, 1915, in Lake Elizabeth Township, Kandiyohi County, Minnesota, the daughter of Carl and Helna (Ogren) Swan. She grew up and received her education in a country school near Lake Elizabeth and was baptized and confirmed at Rosendale United Methodist Church. On February 22, 1941, Gladys was united in marriage to Arley Gustaf Rossell. They lived and farmed south of Atwater for many years. She was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church and active in various womens church groups. Gladys enjoyed reading and coffee time with her family and friends.

She is survived by her two sons, Roger (and Janet) Rossell of Atwater and Larry (and Sheila) Rossell of Atwater; four grandchildren, Nick (and Melissa) Rossell of Atwater, Emily (and Ryan) Goodsen of Atwater, Stacy (and Brittany) Rossell of Atwater, Matthew Rossell of Willmar; six grandchildren, Dylan and Jaylen Rossell, Brittney and Ashtyn Goodsen and Brenden and Ethan Rossell. Also surviving are two sisters, Harriet Berg of Willmar and Lorranie Maro of Minneapolis, besides other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Arley in April of 2008; an infant son and three sisters, Marion, Violet and Rosalind.
