Gloria J. Jansen, age 67, of Atwater, died Monday morning, July 28, at the Emmanual Home in Litchfield.
Memorial services will be 10:30 a.m. Friday, August 1, at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Atwater with Rev. Joseph Carpenter officiating. Interment will be in Union Cemetery in Atwater. Visitation will be 5:00 - 7:00 p.m. Thursday at the Atwater Funeral Home and one hour prior to the service at the church.
Gloria Jean Jansen was born April 8, 1941, in Willmar, the daughter of Louis and Esther (Jensen) Levin. She grew up in the Atwater community, attended country school and later Atwater High School, graduating in 1959. On December 10, 1960, she married Edward Jansen at the Atwater United Methodist Church. They lived in the Twin Cities for a few years and Gloria attended nursing school in Golden Valley. They later returned to Atwater. She worked at various jobs in the area and retired from K-Mart in Willmar. Gloria and Ed spent the past 15 winters in Apache Junction, Arizona, but always returned to spend Christmas with their family. Gloria enjoyed traveling, attending threshing shows, camping, fishing and the outdoors. She also enjoyed photography, listening to music, reading, knitting and doing crafts.
She is survived by her husband, Edward of Atwater; two daughters, Kelly (and Jason) Wright of Cosmos and Karin (and Steve) Renier of Golden Valley; five grandchildren, Danielle (and Roney) Martin, Rachel Wright, Becca Wright, Jacob Renier and Kaitlyn Renier; a great-grandchild, Kadence Martin; several nieces and nephews; and other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents and a sister, Dorothy Scott.
