Gordon W. Lane, age 74, of Willmar, died unexpectedly Monday afternoon, December 29, at his home in Willmar.
Funeral services will be held at 11 A.M., Wednesday, December 31st, at the Redeemer Lutheran Church in Willmar with Rev. Steven Bielenberg officiating. The interment will be in the Cloverleaf Memorial Park Cemetery. Friends may call from 5-7 P.M. Tuesday at the Peterson Brothers Funeral Home and at the church one hour prior to the service.
Gordon Wilbur Lane was born on December 8, 1934 on the family farm near Raymond, the son of Eleanor ( Boettcher) and Wilbur Lane. He grew up in that area, was baptized and confirmed at the Trinity Lutheran Church in Raymond and received his education in the rural schools. He was married June 12, 1953 to Ellen Firn Koenen at the Immanuel Lutheran Church in Clara City. They lived and farmed in the Raymond area for several years and he was employed at Broman Oil. He worked there for 20 years before retiring in 1994. In that year they moved to Willmar and wintered in Apache Junction, Arizona until 2003. He was a member of Redeemer Lutheran Church since Trinty Lutheran closed. He loved being with family and friends and enjoyed camping, fishing and traveling.
He is survived by his wife, Ellen of Willmar, two sons; Larry (and Shelly) Lane of Litchfield and Bob (and Vicki) Lane of Raymond and one daughter, Barbara (and Greg) Reiner of Minneapolis. Also surviving are 8 grandchildren, 4 great grandchildren and 3 brothers, Luverne (and special friend Shirley Labelle) of Apache Junction, Arizonia, Gary (and Lola) Lane of Willmar and Bruce Lane of Willmar. He was preceded in death by his parents.
