Grace Lorinser

March 7, 1921 — March 3, 2013

Grace Lucille (Lawler) Lorinser, age 91 of Willmar, passed away peacefully in the arms of her daughter and granddaughter on Sunday, March 3, 2013 at Bethesda Pleasant View Nursing Home. We are grateful that she is once again the amazing woman she once was.

A celebration of her life and Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11 AM on Monday, March 11, at the Church of St. Mary in Willmar. Burial will be at the church cemetery. Visitation will be from 5-7 PM on Sunday, March 10, at Peterson Brothers Funeral Home with Parish Prayer service at 4:30 PM and Daughters of Isabella rosary at 5 PM. Visitation will also continue one hour prior to the service at the Church on Monday, March 11.

Grace was born on March 7, 1921, in Willmar, MN. She was the seventh child of eleven born to William and Maude (Downs) Lawler. She attended school in Willmar through the tenth grade. Grade eleven was at St. Ben's in St. Cloud and she graduated from the Academy of Holy Angels in Minneapolis. On October 4, 1941, Grace was united in marriage to Charles Lorinser in Willmar. Following their marriage, they lived in Minneapolis. During the war, Grace, with son Gary, stayed with her sister Agatha in Seattle. When Chuck got out of the service they made Willmar their home and raised their three children. Grace was a homemaker and was involved in many Church and community activities. She was a member of the Daughters of Isabella for 65 years. Grace was awarded the Bishop's Medal of Service in 1995. She also worked for Ranny's Men's Center and Langager's Jewelry Store.

Grace was a generous and giving person. Her family was her pride and joy. She was well known for her caramel rolls and coffee rings. The best part was that she shared her gift of baking with many friends and relativesa"and to anyone else lucky enough to receive it. She loved to entertain. She could invite people at 3 PM and have a sit-down dinner for twelve by six. Bridge was her passion. Being 100% Irish, she was proud of it and celebrated it! She believed in Santa Claus. Grace was a special mom, mother-in-law, grandma, great-grandma, and friend.

Grace is survived by her three children; sons: Gary (Claire) of Bismarck, ND, and Craig (Tafi) of Sioux City, IA; and daughter, Anne (Doug) Lankey of Willmar; grandchildren: Dane (Kristi) Lorinser, Brenna (Kevin) Quilter, Shannon Rose Cable, Meredith (Nathan) Todd, and Charles (and fiancée Tonya) Lorinser; and five great-grandchildren: Natasha, Macy, Demi Lorinser, Noel and Kira Quilter. She is also survived by sister-in-law, Myrtle Lawler, and brother-in-law, Charles (Marlene) Brown; and many nieces and nephews.

Grace was preceded in death by her husband, Chuck (2004), ten siblings (Gurine, Richard, Willis, Maurice, Agatha, Douglas, Donald, Jerome, Barbara, and James), and granddaughter, Ellie Lorinser (1988).
