H. Eleanor Johnson, 96, of Willmar, died Tuesday, August 20, at Rice Memorial Hospital in Willmar.
Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. on Friday, August 23, at the United Methodist Church in Willmar. Interment will be at Fairview Cemetery. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church on Friday. Arrangements are with Peterson Brothers Funeral Home in Willmar.
Harriet Eleanor Johnson was born on April 14, 1917, in Swift Falls, Minnesota, the daughter of John and Hattie (Wallin) Grande. She grew up and received her education in the Atwater community. On November 27, 1937, Eleanor was united in marriage to Evert M. "Spud" Johnson and made their home in Cosmos and Dassel where they owned and operated Spuds Cafe. They later moved to Willmar. Eleanor was a long time member of the Willmar United Methodist Church and was active in women's circle and bazaar workshop. She enjoyed traveling, sewing, needlework and reading.
She is survived by one sister, Janis (and Marvin) Lindgren of Pennock; one brother-in-law, Robert Nelson of Grass Valley, CA.; one niece, Jolene (and Dave) Ruschen of Raymond and two nephews, Jeff (and Lori) Lindgren of Pennock and John (and Angie) Lindgren of Willmar, besides other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Spud in 1998; one sister, Myrtle Nelson and one brother, Ardell Grande.
