Harold Lyle Baker, age 91, of New London, died Thursday afternoon, June 25, at the Glen Oaks Care Center in New London.
Services will be held at 2:00 P.M., Monday, June 29th, at Peace Lutheran Church in New London. Friends may call one hour prior to the services at the church. Military Honors will be provided by the Robert Ihland American Legion Post #537 of New London. Arrangements are with the Green Lake Funeral Home and Cremation Service in Spicer.
Harold was born on December 29, 1917, in Sparta, Wisconsin, the son of Anthony and Alice (Williams) Romano. He grew up in Hillsboro, Wisconsin and graduated from Duluth Central High School in 1935. Harold served stateside in the U.S. Army during W.W. II. On June 16, 1941, he was united in marriage to Margaret Korfhage. Harold was employed as a manager for Dayton's Home Furnishings and Contract Division, retiring in 1980. They lived in Chicago, Austin, Minneapolis, Aitkin and in 1992, moved to Spicer. He was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Willmar. Since 2007, Harold has resided at Glen Oaks Care Center in New London.
Harold enjoyed singing, playing the guitar, traveling with Margaret, history, fishing reading and had a fond love for nature.
He is survived by two daughters, Toni Rae (and Thomas) Stobb-Kupa of Minneapolis and Alyse "Lisa" (and Louis) Pirrotta of Spicer; seven grandchildren and thirteen great grandchildren. Also surviving are two brothers, Anthony (and Pat) Romano of Pine City and Donnie (and Karen) Romano of Pine City, besides other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Margaret in 1999 and one brother, Vern.
