Harold Vernon Steffen was born November 1, 1928, in Raymond, the son of Francis and Francina (Van Kraanen) Steffen. He grew up and received his education in Raymond and then attended Mankato Business College and Dunwoody Institute. Following his schooling, he took over the family business, Steffen Implement, Inc., in Raymond. During that time he was active with the Minnesota National Guard. On August 5, 1950, in Baldwin, Wisconsin, Harold was united in marriage to Gwen TeHennepe and they made their home in Raymond. In 1983, they moved to Green Lake in Spicer and became members of Faith Lutheran Church. In the 1970's, Harold purchased Luecks Implement in Danube and then built a new implement shop in Olivia a couple years later. During that time, he was a partner in building the Downtowner Apartments and Elcaba Apartments, both located in Raymond. Though Harold was a businessman by trade, he was always a salesman at heart. Harold served as a member of the American Legion and the Lions Club. He also served on advisory committees for the Minnesota branch of Case and the Diesel Mechanics program at the Willmar Technical College. His favorite hobbies included bowling, fishing, hunting and traveling. In fact, despite his health issues, Harold was polishing up his hunting boots last week in hopes of going deer hunting this fall.
Harold is survived by his beloved wife, Gwen; three faithful sons, David (and Judy) Steffen of Raymond, DJ Steffen of Bird Island and Robert (and Kathy) Steffen of Watkins; four loving grandchildren, Aimee (and Josh) Hilbrands, Craig Steffen (and special friend, Crystal Lia), Kayla Steffen (and fiance, David Kimpling) and Bailey Steffen; and one adorable great-grandson, Peyton Hilbrands. Also surviving are two sisters, Mildred Radunz and Marion (and Don) Hayunga, both of Raymond; besides other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Verna Wilkes.
