Harriet Maxine (Larson) Johnson passed away Saturday, March 30, at Bethesda Pleasant View at the age of 101.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00AM, Saturday, April 6, at Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Atwater with burial in Atwater Union Cemetery. Visitation will be one hour before services at the church. Arrangements are with Peterson Brothers Atwater Funeral Home.
She was born May 23, 1911, in Atwater to Jessie (Tait) and Lewis P. Larson. A lifelong resident of Atwater she graduated from Atwater High in 1929 and the University of Minnesota in 1933. Prior to WWII she was employed by Atwater State Bank. On June 24, 1941, she was united in marriage to O. Douglas Johnson. She was a lifelong homemaker active with the Order of the Eastern Star, Literary Guild Book Club and a variety of church activities including Lutheran Church Women, Mission Circle, quilting, and Uff-Da Day at Bethlehem Lutheran Church. She was also a volunteer with the Atwater Area Living at Home Block Nurse Program.
Harriet was the granddaughter of Harrison Township pioneers, Adam and Lily (Sanderson) Tait and pioneer Atwater lumberman, Peter and Carrie (Ronsberg) Larson.
She is survived by her son, Doug (Sue) Johnson; granddaughter, Kari (John) Danek; grandson, Paul (Margot) Johnson; great grandsons, John Jr. and James Danek all of the Twin Cities, and sister-in-law, Marjorie Johnson of Nacogdoches, TX.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Doug, and brother-in-law, Kermit Johnson.
